This unique Mercedes-Benz LF 311 vintage fire engine from 1957 in concours condition is a valuable asset for collectors and vintage car enthusiasts.
It was originally purchased by the factory fire brigade of Chemische Werke Hüls AG in Herne-Wanne.
The TroSLF 16 of the Carl-Metz body was used as a firefighting vehicle with the designation LF 16-S (special design).
With a different body, 560 liters of foam agent and 750 kg of powder could be transported, which made this vehicle particularly versatile.
The large loudspeaker on the roof was used for important announcements to factory employees and the public.
The vehicle remained in active service with Chemische Werke Hüls AG until the end of the 1980s and was then taken over by the FF Herne, fire department "In der Wanne", and carefully restored.
